embracing your genesis
the beauty of the beginning
There is so much beauty to be found in the beginning of the process.
A rather
Slept on
Part of the process
Is the cool fresh wind of a feeling
The feeling of not knowing.
Where this creation
Might take you
What the creation
Might evoke
Or if the creation
May spring legs of its own
Spurt into a living thing
Never to escape your mind
Begging, please
Take me into the physical realm
Share me with the void
Or maybe the world
If they even care to peek.
When a new idea births itself
And you literally can’t rid your brainspace of it
The idea nudges you
Whispers, almost.
“Hey. I’m here. Water me, if you dare.”
When we begin to mold what was once just a thought
Into a body of art
Of whatever medium calls to you
The very start
Is such a pretty time
Adorned with glittery invitation
If you decide to open it
And add your pure artistic energy to it
The possibilities
Are literally endless.
At the beginning
We don’t think about the ending.
We focus on the unfolding
The slow, methodical, steps.
The grit that no one else sees
But the creator themself.
Do you share your ideas with anyone when they are fresh?
Or do you preserve the newness in a tight sealed protective wrap?
Like my grandma’s decade old couch?
Choose to protect your baby’s face from being seen, stolen, or misunderstood?
Rightfully so
Because you are truly creating
For you. And solely you.
Sharing
Is where
We hope
That maybe
It will touch the eyes, ears, hands, mouth, or mind
Of the ones that will appreciate it most.
Best case scenario
We grow a community
Of like minded individuals
Who make this path, once walked alone
Feel surrounded with opportunity
And sweet hands reaching out
To help.
To love.
To support.
To encourage.
There is a hidden beauty
In the beginning.
If you let it be
Beautiful.
If you allow yourself
To start from nothing.
To scratch at the surface
For a deeper creation.
And if no one cares
What harm does it do
To share with the empty seats
And applaud for yourself
Until others eventually trickle in too
